From TelugupediaShankar Mahadevan is an Indian singer and music composer. He is an engineering graduate trained in Carnatic and Hindustani classical music. He's a popular singer in Kollywood industry in South India Shankar Mahadevan hails from the Tamil Iyer community. In Bollywood he is more popularly known as part of the Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy trio of music directors. He has also served as a celebrity judge in the popular reality television show, Fame Gurukul. Shankar often collaborates with a group of Swedish musicians, Mynta. He is also a part of the Indo-Jazz fusion music band Silk, comprising Louis Banks, Karl Peters and Sivamani. He works as a music director with two others, Ehsaan Noorani and Loy Mendosa (see also: Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy), who rose to fame after their music for the movie Dil Chahta Hai became an instant hit. Shankar Mahadevan is a singer, Ehsaan is a guitar specialist, and Loy a keyboard player.
